Tedd Prudhomme was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moved to New York City in the early 1980s to paint. Later that decade he started Wall-Drug with bassist Mark Ibold (Pavement) and drummer Martin Köb (Circle X). Wall-Drug's psychedelic/noise experiments eventually gave way to his desire to write songs, which is what we find here in The Place.

The lyrics are off-center, the tunes are head-sticky. Comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Syd Barrett are acceptable. Features performances by Tim Foljahn of $2 Guitar and younger brother Tim Prudhomme of Fuck.
